The Lamer Gamer

One has to find ways of passing the time at work, and this has proved a great time sink today.  Though I find it annoying, I don’t get quite as bent out of shape about the whole Nuke Boosting thing as a lot of other people.  I’ve found people doing it and killed them, cause hey, I want to win.  Anyway, there are of course those who REALLY hate it, and those that for some odd reason record every moment of the time they spend playing MW2.  Occasionally you find someone exhibiting both traits.

And thus I found http://www.youtube.com/user/PS3HouseMDPL, only the most prolific recorder of MW2 booster hunting.

This guy is great!  While his gameplay is good, the greatness comes from the comedy.  He’s added some pretty solid music and sound effects to the recordings along with a running annotated commentary, and I can’t stop laughing at points.  Not only does he have some recordings of the DUMBEST boosters ever, but some of the most indignant I’ve ever seen.  If I had to nitpick, he does seem to like teabagging just a little too much, but to each their own.

Unfortunately he’s playing MW2 on a PS3, so I’m never going to see him.

I f’ing love COD4.5 or MW2 or whatever you call it.  Great online play, very customizable.  Need get a few more buds on line for this one.  Spec Ops is good fun.  Need help taking down Juggernauts in Echo ops.

The knuckledraggers who keep using the Javelin/Semtex glitch need to be banned for life.  Too harsh?  Too bad.  You’re worse than the jackass who starts off TK’ing in Halo.

Oh and eggman scored me a copy of Halo Wars so I actually have the Halo3 multiplayer disk, gotta try that out.   I’d only rented it and would never had bought a copy, but freebies are always welcome.  Thanks Bro!

Fucking Beatles Rock Band won’t work with the Xbox 360 headset, and I’m sure as hell not wasting money on a mic, so fuck them, that game is going back.  Can’t figure this one.  The headset worked for all the previous incarnations of the game.  Now they claim the quality isn’t good enough.  Right, like even half the people singing have good enough pitch for that to matter.

Okay, I don’t feel as though I’m being unreasonable in saying that 1 week, is waaaaay to long for GameFly to effectively ship me a game.  MW2 was mailed last monday, and just arrived TODAY.  Considering that same day, the TV was removed from my domocile for a 1-2 week repair, the fact that MW2 wasn’t going to arrive for a few days was essentally moot. 

Magically the TV arrives on Friday, having only had a few bad capacitors, as I’d already figured since this issue is somewhat well documented on the interweb.  Alas, Friday’s mail arrives, no MW2, nor Saturday.  Crap, it had to travel roughly 300 miles.  I could have walked that far sooner.

No matter, all is forgiven.  I’m playing now and that’s what counts.

Modern Fucking Warfare 2.  It’s on its way according to Gamefly, oh and via FastReturn! no less.  So maybe by Weds it will be here.  While Gamefly has been delivering a better experience recently, I’ve noticed that shipping times, and occasionally return times are extended by a day more than what I’ve seen in the past.  But all is forgiven, as my return of ODST via Friday’s mail has yielded Modern Warfare 2.

Now all that remains for this week to really rock is the arrival of the TV repairman.  I’ve really enjoyed owning my Samsung LNT4065F for the last two years, and I got some good warranty service on it via Samsung in the first few months.  But now we’re into the extended warranty via Circuit City’s contracted guys, so we’ll see how this goes.  The last TV I had was a Sony 27″ CRT, which while perhaps less glamorous was still a near top of the line set at the time.  That lasted 10 years, with one repair, also on a Circuit City contract.  Here’s hoping I can get anywhere near that length of time out of the current one.

While watching the first bit of the demo, I was waiting for Sly Stalone to swing on screen for a cameo, but no.  Still, gameplay for Modern Warfare 2 looks to be good, but with a lot of the same.  I wonder what the heck is up with the camcorder-like attachment to your rifle.  I guess they figured it was kinda riduculous that you had built-in radar in COD4, better that it be attached to the weapon somehow.

Total useless but fun suggestion would be game videos ala Halo 3, they could be gun cam videos.  Nah.

There was at least one interesting one-off addition.  The snowmobile chase, which does look neat.  I hope there’s something at least as satisfying as the bombardment from the AC-130 in COD4, I freakin’ loved that.

Apparently dropping the COD moniker, Infinity Ward put out a teaser for Modern Warfare 2.  Found it on Xbox Live this morning and while really cool in a Daredevil sort of way, it of course shows nothing of the game.

If ever there was a game that deserved a sequel, COD4 would be it.  Solid campaign, great multiplayer, actual achievements, it had it all.  That’s not even saying enough about it really.  The campaign spanned elements like sniper missions, the AC-130, and plain old firefights, multiplayer was incredibly well balanced, especially at a time when many people (yeah me too) bitched about how Halo 3 was lacking in that dept, especially with lag.  And hey, Mile High Club was an actual achievement, no getting 5,000,000 kills in multiplayer. Sad that I haven’t picked it up in a while.  Probably should break it out again this weekend.
